The paper describes a preliminary structural analysis of Küçük Ayasofya Mosque in istanbul carried out by means of a continuum damage formulation specifically developed for the study of large buildings made of brittle material such as masonry. A discussion of the results obtained in the simulation of different actions such as gravity loads, differential settlements and earthquake, is presented.
