In the capital of Bolivia, La Paz, there are two mosques. As-Salam Mosque is the first mosque in the city of La Paz, inaugurated in 2006, managed by the Asociacion Islamica de Bolivia, whose members are local Muslims who converted to Islam along with Muslims of Arab descent and from various other countries.
As-Salam Mosque is a building purchased by a young British Muslim to be used as a mosque. The mosque building is a three-story building including a prayer room large enough for male and female worshipers, a kitchen, a classroom for children, and a residence for the imam.
