Rivervale Mosque (Islamic Community Centre) was formally established in 1977 in the suburb of Rivervale, Perth. It serves as the head office of the Islamic Council of Western Australia, a state branch of the Australian Federation of Islamic Councils. The mosque also oversees halal certification for meat products and food outlets across metropolitan Perth, guided by the resident Imam and the council’s halal certification subcommittee.
Originally converted from a residential house, Rivervale Mosque reflects the pragmatic 1970s architectural style, featuring a simple prayer hall, kitchen, and office spaces. It underwent a major redevelopment in 1985 and was further refurbished in 2012 to better serve the growing community.
The mosque caters to Muslims from Victoria Park, Carlisle, Burswood, and East Perth, and is especially popular with taxi drivers and students. Beyond its role as a place of worship, Rivervale Mosque remains an important religious and community hub for Perth’s Muslim population.
