Umar ibn Al-Khattab Mosque is a new mosque in the Mountain Giant district officially opened. The previous mosque was demolished to make way for a larger and more modern structure, now capable of accommodating 1,200 worshippers.
The prayer complex spans three levels. The lower floor features a screen displaying a live broadcast of the main prayer hall on the central level, ensuring visibility for all attendees. A dedicated women’s prayer hall is also located on this floor.
The opening ceremony was attended by Kamalzhan Turdybayev, a representative of the Department of Religious Affairs of the Spiritual Administration of Muslims of Kazakhstan, along with the chief imam of the Central Mosque of Almaty, Nurbek Esmaganbet, construction sponsors, local imams, and distinguished guests. The event concluded with the first Jumu’ah (Friday) prayer in the newly built mosque, marking the beginning of its role as a spiritual center for the community.
