The largest masjid in the Horn of Africa is the Mosque of Islamic Solidarity. Up to 10,000 worshipers may be accommodated there. The mosque also has a view of the Somali Sea.
The white mosque’s architecture is in the traditional Islamic style that is most associated with mosques in Saudi Arabia, but it also has a hint of East African design. On the right side of the main entrance to this holy sanctuary, there is only one 35-meter-tall (115-foot) minaret that is primarily white.
In 2012–2013, the mosque was renovated and rehabilitated by the Starsom Group, a local Somali contractor, under the funding of Turkiye Diyanet Foundation, a non-profit, non-governmental Turkish organization.
