_Cuiabá Mosque

Information

The Cuiabá Mosque is one of the smallest in the country, but it houses a very rich interior design, with pink carpets contrasting with the colourful walls, looking very much like sub-Saharan African mosques. In addition, the mosque has a parking lot for members and a few more indoor areas where community festivals are held.

Today, it is believed that there are about one thousand Muslims living in Cuiabá, the number used to be higher, but many moved to bigger urban centres, and from this thousand, a large number of Lebanese, Syrians, Egyptians, Sudanese, and others, and some Brazilians reverted to religion. The whole community is Sunni oriented.
