The mosque is frequented mainly by Lebanese and Syrians, and several Brazilian converts to Islam. Its orientation is Sunni, and its current sheikh is from Egypt. The main activities at the mosque are sermons on Fridays, and classes for children and women on weekends. Anyone can visit the mosque, which is open to the local community. The mosque was built in the central part of the São Miguel Paulista residential neighborhood in the city of São Paulo. It was inaugurated in January 1978, but only in 2000 was the minaret built. The mosque has a prayer hall with beautiful red carpets on the second floor, as well as bathrooms on the same floor. On the second floor there is a hall for events, and outside there is a large parking lot and park for the children. The vegetation is something unique to this mosque, as it gives the place an air of desert Arab countries.
