Nestled around a body of water in the King Fahad University of Petroleum and Minerals, Dhahran. CRS worked for 25 years on the planning and design of this university, which the mosque serves as an extension to. According to the CRS centre, the design was based on the abstraction of local, Arab, architectural motifs and their adaptation to poured concrete as a material used throughout this building. The minaret is centred around a courtyard that leads into the main prayer hall.
The mosque, a rectangular building approximately 27x45m, is located on the edge of a small body of water. The building is based on a traditonal mosque plan and there are several distinctive features in the design. The roof, which only covers the square prayer room, is made up of a series of semi-circular cupolas. The prayer room is set off from the sahn by marble slabs that function as walls.
