The Suriname Islamic Society (SIV) is an Islamic society in Suriname with its headquarters at the Keizerstraat Mosque in Paramaribo. It has twelve affiliated sub-associations. The main house of worship of the SIV, and also the most prominent mosque in the Suriname, is the Mosque Keizerstraat. The combination of the mosque right next to the Jewish Synagogue Neve Shalom is often praised as a symbol that religions coexist peacefully in Suriname.
The Keizerstraat Mosque is located in Suriname, in the city of Paramaribo. The mosque is approximately 1400 m2 and was opened in 1984. It has a square ground plan with two floors, four minarets and a central dome. The building is surrounded by an arcade adorned with gold decorations.
