Jami Kampung Baru Inpak mosque, also known as Masjid Kampung Baru or Masjid Bandengan is one of the oldest mosques in Jakarta , Indonesia . The mosque is located on Jalan Bandengan Selatan, Pekojan, Tambora, Jakarta , near the Al-Anshor Mosque . This is one of the mosques built by Muslim merchants from India , who used to travel and live in Batavia . This mosque has been designated as a cultural heritage by the provincial government of DKI Jakarta.
Currently, the mosque building is no longer in its original form, except for the central frame which is square in shape, with carvings of bunches of grapes and several pillars in the windows. In the late 1980s, old buildings in Pekojan were demolished for flyovers. The Kampung Baru Mosque was also damaged even though it actually has historical and architectural values. The basic design of this mosque is square with overlapping roofs, the upper roof is pyramidal. The shape of this mosque resembles a traditional Javanese house, where there are usually 4 pillars in the center of the building as a support for the pyramid-shaped roof.
This mosque has an area of about 1,050 square meters, the floors are white, green and red. In the ceiling of the mosque hangs an antique lamp that has existed since the mosque was founded. This mosque once had the most beautiful minbar, made of carved wood. This pulpit has now been replaced. The original pulpit is kept in the Jakarta History Museum .
