The Bochra Mosque is located in the Nouira subdivision in Chotrana and was inaugurated at the beginning of May 2019. It is an architectural and artistic work by Riadh Siala, which combines authenticity and modernity.
Easily identifiable on the façade of the mosque, the calligraphy which occupies a very important place in Islamic religious art is made of stones. A meticulous work and mastered to the smallest detail for which the architect wishes to congratulate the craftsmen of Nabeul who have shown a lot of know-how and speed. With a total dimension exceeding 70 square meters, approximately 8.17 m * 9.12 m, the mural calligraphy takes up the verse of the Koran.
Contrary to the constructions of use where the minaret marries the square form, in spindle or spiral, the tower which symbolizes the Muslim worship since the completion of the large mosque of Damascus 14 centuries ago did not escape the innovative glance. Indeed, without evoking a particular trigger to the architect’s inspiration, he says he revisits contemporary works that stuck to his mind. Thus, the rectangular base carries the minaret between the adjacent walls to form a whole in perfect harmony.
