Jamaica’s Islamic population is estimated to be approximately 1500 people. This number reflects in the amount of organisations and mosques geared towards them. In 1981 the Islamic Council of Jamaica was founded, and the Islamic Education and Dawah Center, both located in Kingston. These institutions function both as prayer centres and school of Islamic studies.
The Islamic Dawah Centre is located in Montenegro Bay, Jamaica. According to the organisation, the mosque has been operating temporarily in an adapted residential building while they raise funds to build the permanent headquarters.
