Dato Undang Kamat Mosque is located in Simpang , Negeri Sembilan. Its name was given in conjunction with the name of its patron and the owner of the land who donated his land for the construction of this mosque, Dato Undang Kamat .
Dato Kamat is one of the Undang from Luak in Negeri Sembilan. Negeri Sembilan is the only state in Malaysia that still maintains the tribal system, which means that each of the nine tribes residing in Negeri Sembilan has a Law or a tribal leader.
Literally, the Dato Undang Kamat Mosque was once known as the Stone Mosque due to its construction structure made of concrete and bricks. The mosque has a rectangular interior plan with two steps leading to the main entrance. This mosque is raised approximately 1 meter (m) high from the ground level and has a tiled concrete floor. The entire mosque measures 6 m x 6 m square and the height reaches 7 m high up to the top of the roof.
This building has a three-storey roof and its appearance is quite dominant not because of the shape of the roof like a house of worship but because of the filigree carvings on the ridges which depict the motif of plant link tendrils.
The Mihrab space is slightly out of the main prayer room which is covered with a dome. The main prayer room has four pillars in the middle to support the two layers of roof on top.
This main prayer room has nine openings on three sides of its wall. It is surrounded by a tiled-floored porch that opens towards the ablution pool space that is on the right side of the Qiblah wall.
This mosque does not have a mosque tower but a taboh house on the right side which is a few meters from the ablution pool. This taboh house is quite small measuring 1.5 square meters which is elevated by approximately half a meter and is supported by 4 wooden pole structures. The entire mosque was built using the latest materials and technology, namely concrete and brick structures.
