In 1978, the Muslim community of the city of Colón began using a site in the Perejil area, where ceremonies and meetings were held until the Islamic Cultural Centre of Colon was fully completed on January 15, 1982. The building is approximately 1000m2 in size, with two minarets and a dome over the prayer hall. The façade of the building is painted reddish and the minarets are painted in light colours. Due to its location on a corner plot, the building stands out in the landscape.
