A bottom-up initiative, entirely funded by community members investing not only their money but their labour as well, the general organisation of the prayer hall, a space of 240 m2 designed for everyday prayer and free-time contemplation, has been determined by placing a box-like, ritual-ablution facility inside an elongated industrial hall, in order to introduce new, more introverted, sequences of space matching those in a traditional mosque. Wooden elements filter light from large industrial windows. The spatial concept of the school and leisure room (phase two covering 195 m2) was far more driven by the pragmatic need to host a wide range of activities. The renovation of the restaurant is planned to be an upcoming phase of the process.
