Bishkek old central Mosque, which is one of the oldest structures in Bishkek was built in 1886 and renovated in late 20th century. This mosque used to be known as the Central Mosque until it was recently usurped by the new Turkish Central Mosque. It was built late in the rule of the Soviets over Kyrygzstan, and is typical Kyrygz mosque architecture.
The central city mosque is a whole complex, which includes three halls for collective prayers – the main one, an annex, and an old mosque, which is almost 100 years old!
The capacity of the main hall is more than 600 people. The annex accommodates about 1000 people, and on the day of Juma, about 5-6 thousand people gather throughout the mosque.
