The mosque was named after the statesman of the Kazakh SSR Baiken Ashimov. One of the mosques in Kazakhstan, it is considered to be the most consistent with the canons of Islamic architecture among 43 mosques in Almaty. The mosque was built in the traditional Islamic style, has 4 minarets and is crowned with a golden dome. The walls of the mosque are richly decorated with oriental ornaments. The Baiken Mosque is the largest mosque in the Bostandyk district of the city. The mosque is able to content 3000 people and covers an area of more than 6000 square meters. The mosque and internal architecture are designed to create very good and high-quality acoustic sound on modern sound equipment. The mosque houses a large central dome and four minarets around the perimeter. Being modern and comfortable, it has rightfully become one of the most beautiful mosques not only in Almaty, but also all over Kazakhstan.
The mosque is a single-domed, 4-tower, two-story structure with men’s and women’s toilets under the mosque and a two-story parking lot underneath. On the south side of the second floor of the mosque, there is a prayer room for women.
