Süreyya and Muzaffer Baskıcı Mosque, at the entrance of Alaçatı city center, was designed by UrbAr within the scope of “Alaçatı Yeldeğirmenleri Park Urban Design Project” and built by philanthropist Muzaffer Baskıcı. There are fountains and gasilhane structures in the courtyard. The dome of the structure, where the classical period Ottoman Mosque typology is reinterpreted with reinforced concrete construction technique, is completed with a curved roof shape, and a form original to the structure is sought in its minaret.
The mosque will facilitate 360 people indoors. A pool surrounds the mihrab wall and the reading area on the east facade will face the adjoining park. The courtyard is framed by a large eave and has two distinct areas for entry and outdoor prayer. The mosque is designed as a complex with its courtyard, ablution fountain, mortuary unit and housing unit for the imam.
The exterior of the mosque is completed with metal panels perforated with Kufic script, and the mihrab wall is completed with traditional calligraphy and hand-carved ornaments.
