Mubashra Ilyas is a German Muslim architect of Pakistani descent, born and raised in Frankfurt, where she continues to live with her family. Her parents moved to Germany in 1977 in search of religious freedom and a better life. She pursued architecture at the Technical University and has since dedicated her skills to designing meaningful spaces, particularly religious buildings. Committed to community service, she engages in voluntary architectural projects without financial compensation. Among her notable works is a mosque in Bremen, inaugurated in 2004. In Offenbach, she designed a mosque that blends Bauhaus elements with oriental architecture, featuring a 15-meter-high minaret that remains discreetly visible from specific angles to harmonize with the surrounding environment. She also designed a smaller mosque in Heinersdorf, funded by women from her community across Germany. This mosque serves as a youth center and includes a public playground, with a 12-meter-high minaret integrated into the complex.
