Eric Broug is an independent author and educator, specializing in Islamic geometric design. Largely self-taught in this subject, he obtained his MA in the History of Art and Archaeology at SOAS in London. He is the author of several popular books, including the well known Islamic Geometric Patterns (2006) and Islamic Geometric Design published in 2013 by Thames and Hudson. He has also published an ebook, Islamic Geometric Star Patterns, available through most eBook platforms. His books are available in Dutch, Farsi, French, and Turkish, as well as English. Eric frequently gives workshops in both the UK where he resides, and internationally in which he teaches participants how to understand, analyze and draw many different patterns. Eric manages a community dedicated to Islamic art based on Facebook, and has created an online course on Islamic geometric design. He is currently working on a new book on Islamic geometric design for Thames & Hudson, and is involved in several collaborative design projects. He has recently established the Alhambra Foundation in the UK, dedicated to Islamic geometric design education.
