Civic is an architectural firm dedicated to designing public buildings and spaces. Our portfolio includes libraries, bridges, cultural centers, dikes, town halls, public squares, educational and residential buildings, streetscapes, sculptures, and stations. At Civic, we believe architecture is not an autonomous art form but a public responsibility. Our work responds to spatial needs as well as social, cultural, economic, and ecological contexts. We design with a deep awareness of history and a long-term vision for the future. We strive to create architecture that is generous, distinctive, and enduring—built to stand the test of time. Atmosphere is essential to our design approach, as is the careful selection and aging of materials. Research is fundamental to our process. At every stage, we develop multiple design variants, allowing new ideas to emerge alongside proven solutions. In our workshop, we build models and test mockups of experimental techniques to assess both functionality and user experience. Civic is led by four partners and a team of ten architects. We approach each project from multiple scales and collaborate with expert builders, thinkers, and makers. Civic is also a founding member of The Cloud Collective, an international, multidisciplinary design network.
