Basilio PavĂłn Maldonado, historian of Spanish art, professor of research at the Higher Council for Scientific Research (CSIC). Specialist in the art and history of Andalusian art. In collaboration with Felix Hernandez he excavated the Medina Azahara mosque. His fundamental work is the study of hispano-Muslim floral and geometric decoration.
In 1984, from the CSIC, began to develop a project on Hispano-Muslim architecture organized into five blocks: water, the city-fortress, domestic and palatine architecture, the church mosque, and materials and construction procedures.
