History


Turkish Islamic Association of Canning Suleymaniye Mosque Incorporated is a small-scale charity established in 1982. Their main activity is registered as religion primarily serving children – aged 6 to under 15 youth – 15 to under 25 adults – aged 25 to under 65 adults – aged 65 and over families aboriginal and torres strait islander people migrants, refugees or asylum seekers financially disadvantaged people people at risk of homelessness/ people experiencing homelessness unemployed persons females males.

Urban and Architectural


The small masjid has eclectic architectural features. The brick minaret is inspired by the Ottoman minarets, even though it is proportionally different. The rest of the materials are modern and local materials. The central dome is an onion-shaped dome (Indian subcontinent as a reference) surrounded by four small onion-shaped domes.

Süleymaniye Camii is located on a very important busy road in Cannington, namely Welshpool Road. It is named after Turkish/Ottoman mosques, and was established by the Turkish Islamic Association of Canning.
