Description


According to Islamic tradition, every devout Muslim has to give zakat, a charitable contribution. Abdulhamid Kattani, a Saudi Arabia resident, had a large mosque built in Shymkent as a way of giving zakat. It can hold 2,000 people, and consists of 7 rooms, including lecture rooms, libraries and a spacious hall for prayers. The gilded dome of the mosque is decorated with the Al-Fatiha Surah and Ayat Al-Kursi (Muslim holy texts).

Abdulhamid Kattani Mosque is an amazing place where calmness, and silence reign. The doors of the “House of Allah” are always open, so everyone can visit it.
