History


On May 20, 1992, the foundation stone of the Samara Cathedral Mosque was laid. On November 14, 1998, a minaret was erected, and on December 15, 1998, the first prayer was read in the mosque. The official opening day is November 28, 1999.

Urban and Architectural


The mosque is rightfully considered one of the largest places of worship in Russia and Europe. The height of its minaret is 65 meters, the area of ​​one floor is 1200 square meters. Now in the Samara Cathedral Mosque they perform daily fivefold, funeral and annual holiday prayers, as well as naming and marriage rites. They hold charity dinners and help those in need.

Description


This is a parallelepiped measuring 21.6 × 57.60 meters with a minaret 67 meters high and a dome with a diameter of 13.5 meters. The mosque covers an area of ​​1200 square meters. The mihrab is made of white marble. The floors of the building are covered with carpets brought from Tajikistan. Their total area is 750 square meters. The architectural complex of the Samara mosque includes the Nur Madrasah, designed for 60 students. There is an apple orchard next to the mosque. The total area of ​​the complex is 4800 square meters, the capacity is about 5000 worshipers at the same time.
