Ar-Rahim Mosque

History

The mosque was founded in honor of the 450th anniversary of the entry of Bashkiria into Russia. It is expected that at the time of completion it will become the largest mosque in Russia and, reportedly, in all of Europe, however, it will not be such in all respects.

Urban and Architectural

The mosque is made in the classical Islamic style with the use of local motifs in the design. The building is planned in the form of a huge khan's tent with a gilded glass dome that has the texture of a honeycomb; the minarets, as planned, symbolize the tips of spears or arrows; elements of the Bashkir ornament will be used in the design. The dimensions of the Muslim cathedral are impressive. The total area of the building is about 12,500 square meters, the area of the entire complex is 14,000 m², the heated area of the premises is 25,000 m². The diameter of the dome is 23 meters, its height is 46 meters, the height of the minarets is almost 77 meters. The men's hall is designed for 1,200 people, the women's hall - for 400. During major holidays, it is possible to use the entire space: the lobby, observation decks. Thus, the total capacity can reach 5 thousand parishioners.

The object is planned to be equipped with air conditioning and video surveillance systems, and a park with fountains and places for recreation will be laid out on the adjacent territory, a hotel and an underground two-level parking lot are also provided[19]. According to the plan, the transparent gilded dome should look like floating between four minarets of impressive height, crowned with crescents. The facades of the building will be decorated with ornaments and calligraphic inscriptions in Arabic. In addition to the prayer hall for performing prayers, the building will house premises for the muftiate, classrooms, a library with 44,000 volumes, an Islamic museum, a conference hall with 270 seats, a halal cafe and other facilities. The mosque will have an autonomous heating system, for which a two-story gas boiler house will be placed nearby. A cable-stayed bridge leading to the mosque with a length of 450 meters will be erected over Salavat Yulaev Avenue. There are plans to demolish nearby houses and resettle their inhabitants to build a new quarter on the site adjacent to the mosque, the buildings of which will be made in light colors in order to visually merge with the white marble of the Muslim temple.

The dome is lined with honeycomb-shaped stainless steel sheets coated with titanium nitride. Honeycomb hexagons are attached to each other thanks to special bends and superimposed on the fiberglass base of the dome, the butt seams of which are isolated by gluing them with bitumen-polymer strips, which ensures complete waterproofing. Among other things, the dome has a heating system for self-cleaning of fallen snow and is fireproof - able to withstand up to 40 minutes of exposure to flame. Made from Russian-made materials.

When creating both internal and external design, only exclusive manual work will be applied. The exterior will be decorated with a mosaic of gold and marble with an area of 900 square meters. The total area of decorated surfaces will be 9000 m². The works will use Bashkir jasper of red, green and brown shades, as well as the famous white marble from the Greek island of Thassos, where the marble of the required whiteness was. In total, 200 people will take part in the design work, the deadline is 3 years.

Upon completion of the main phase of construction, the chief engineer of the developer, Vladislav Dokuchaev, announced that the height of each of the minarets was 76.7 meters, which was a record value in Russia. In total, the mosque will be equipped with nine elevators, two of which will be located in the minarets, which will allow people to be delivered to a height of 57 meters, where observation platforms will be located. Also, a circular observation deck is provided at a height of 23 meters, offering a view of both the interior decoration and the city. The project also provides for a secular tourist zone at a height of 17 meters. The building is designed in such a way that the flows of tourists and worshipers will not intersect.

Periodically, information appears that the minarets of the Ufa mosque are the largest in Europe, which is not true - in the village of Delimedzhe of the Tutin community in Serbia there are minarets 77.24 m high, and the height of the minarets of the Moscow Cathedral Mosque is 78 meters (according to others - 72 m). For comparison, the highest minaret in the world at the Hassan II Mosque in Morocco reaches a height of 210 meters.

Description

At the level of 17 and 23 meters circular viewing platforms are provided. The project of the building includes nine elevators. It is assumed that ordinary tourists will also be able to visit the mosque, but the flows of secular people will not intersect with those praying.
