History

History of the regional central mosque "Kyzylzhar" The first platform of the regional central mosque "Kyzylzhar" was laid in 2001. A special public fund "Shapagat" (chairman Zh. Iskakov) was created for the construction of the mosque. 46 million tenge received into the fund was enough only to build a platform and pay wages to workers, so the construction stopped. The construction of the mosque was revived only in 2004 when the akim of the region Taiyr Aimukhametuly Mansurov took office. He made the best use of the President N.A. Nazarbayev's visit to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia that year and asked him to convey the political meaning of building a mosque for the city of Kyzylzhar, which is located on the border with Russia, to Prince Sultan bin Abdel Aziz, the Crown Prince of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The King, who correctly understood the request, made a donation and allocated 2 million US dollars from his personal funds for the construction of the mosque. The construction of the mosque cost a total of 3 million US dollars. Elbasy N. Nazarbayev and Akim of the region T. A. Mansurov helped to find the remaining financial sources. The project of the mosque was made by "Sevgrazhdanproekt" LLP and UNEP ASPOS, and the Republican "Kulager" construction corporation (president Eginbaev Token Zylkaidaruly, director of the regional branch Nurgozhaev Bakhytbek Sydykbekuly) carried out the construction with this project. Thus, the grand opening of the mosque was scheduled on November 27, 2005, with the participation of Grand Mufti Absattar Haji Derbisali, Akim of the region T.A.
