Mosque at the Muslim cemetery in Ufa

History

On March 31, 1905, a petition was submitted to the provincial government from two hundred Muslim believers with a request to allow them to build a new cathedral mosque at the Mohammedan cemetery. By this time, there were three cathedral mosques in Ufa, but they could no longer accommodate everyone, especially during the days of solemn holidays: the city grew, the Muslim population increased, and there were many visitors.

On March 23, 1960, a fire broke out in the building of the mosque, which destroyed its upper floor. The foundation, floor, walls of the lower floor were not damaged. However, despite the believers' requests to allow them to restore the building, the City Council denied them the right to restore the mosque. By July 1960, the mosque was completely destroyed. By the Decree of the Council of Ministers of the BASSR No. 321 of May 7, 1962, the religious society of Muslims of the 2nd cathedral mosque was deregistered.
