Naryn Central Mosque
History
The skyline of Naryn is impressive, particularly with the addition of landmark - Azireti Aala Blue Mosque. Attracting thousands of pilgrims and tourists per year, this architectural sight is far different from anything else you see in Naryn.
Unfortunately, only observant Muslims are allowed to enter the Blue Mosque to perform Namaz, Islamic prayer. All others may have a look and take photos only from the outside. All visitors are requested to observe this practice.
Description
The mosque was built in 1993, and its design stemmed from the creative vision of Kyrgyz architect Asein Omuraliev. Named after the Prophet Muhammad’s son-in-law, Aziret Ali, the mosque can hold up to 400 people and offers a dormitory of 50 beds. In 2017 a madrasah with a boarding school was opened on premises to offer religious studies for young men.
