Al Mahdi Mosque
History
The 1st Ahmadiyya Mosque to be built in Jamaica, Old harbour. This mosque was built in 2011 under the guidance of Hazrat Mirza Massroor Ahmad. The land was purchased 5 months prior to its inauguration date. Inauguration was held in the presence of Amir Jamat-e-Ahmadiyya Ghana and Amir Jamat-e-Ahmadiyya Canada. The history of the spread of Islam in the islands was through immigration from Africa. This existed since 1850s.
Urban and Architectural
Al Mahdi Mosque is located in Jamaica, in the town of Old harbour. Its architecture has a modern language, with straight lines and white colours. The mosque has approximately 500m2, a minaret and a silver dome.
