In the last two decades research on islam in Latin America has proliferated, but in a very general way. Publications are disperse and tend to be short essays presented in academic forums without a broad public; others are articles that have been integrated into books with general themes, making them difficult to locate. However, through a timely and exhaustive search I have been able to identify many of these works, which i will present in this article. An analysis of the materials collected has enabled me to outline some avenues of research and to generally classify the different titles.
