Islam differs from Christianity in its conception of God, triune in the former and indivisible in the latter. Its followers, the Muslims, are present in several cities in Brazil. With its churches and philanthropic associations at the level of social relations and its mosques, cemeteries, schools and clubs at the level of urban landscape, Islam produces its own spaces. This phenomenon occurs in Guarulhos, a city in the metropolitan region of São Paulo. There the Muslim community is significant. However, the capitalist relations of production impose conditions of daily life that conflict with the universe of Islamic values and weaken it as a strict observance of the doctrine.
