_A Study on Development of Mosque Architecture in Southeast Asia

Description

Islam arrived at Southeast Asia through various routes; Indo-Arabian trading route from west and China-Indochina inland route from north from 11th century. Moslem missionary started service, and constructed mosque after they got local believers. However, because these studies have been made in each country, whole image of development and typology of the mosque is not clear yet. This paper aims at discussing historical development and variety of the mosques which were built before the Second World War in Southeast Asia and Southern China.
