يركز البحث من خلال منهجيته القائمة على المدلول المنطقي إلى تحليل النظريات والاراء حول ادراك ومدلول الشكل والتشكيل البصري للمفردات المعمارية في انتاج التكوين المعماري لمبنى المسجد دون الدخول في التطور التاريخي لمبنى المسجد. وعليه تناول البحث مفاهيم الشكل والتشكيل اللغوي والاصطلاحي والفلسفي وربطها مع العوامل النفسية والبيئية في تصميم المساجد وعليه تم الرجوع إلى امثلة محدودة دون الخوض في تفاصيلها المعمارية للاستعانة بتطبيق المفاهيم التشكيلية وتأثيرها على تنوع تصميم المساجد من حيث التكوين المعماري لها وصياغة عناصرها. خلص البحث على ان التباين في تصميم المساجد المعاصرة تأثر بالمفاهيم والنظريات والمدارس المعمارية الحديثة التي اهتمت بالحداثة في طرح نماذج جديدة وفي نفس الوقت مرتبطة ولا تتعارض مع وظيفة المسجد مع مراعاة البيئة المبنية التي يبنى فيها
