Sultan Bello Mosque
History
One of the biggest mosques in Kaduna State, Nigeria, Sultan Bello Mosque, also known as The Kaduna Central Mosque, was constructed in 1962. It bears the name Muhammadu Bello, the son of Usman dan Fodio and the former Sultan of Sokoto.
Urban and Architectural
The project entailed enlarging the 220 m2 prayer area into a larger 2,300 m2 area. The original mosque was constructed in 1962. The current structure is a masive building with 5 domes and 4 minarets. the plan respresnts the interlocking of 4 rectangles.
Description
The Sultan Bello mosque includes a gathering space for the Muslim community's education, and Muslims go there to learn.
