_Emir Sultan Mosque

Information

Emir Sultan Mosque was founded in 1991 as a place of worship for local Muslim families to educate their children with Islamic essentials. The Mosque was purchased as a church and then adapted into a Mosque. However, over the years, the population of the Muslims in the area increased dramatically, which initiated a reconstruction project in 2012 for a new mosque and additional buildings such as a community youth centre, funeral services and a wudhu area.

The mosque aims to serve the growing Muslim population in Dandenong and surrounding regions by providing the community with high-quality services, especially for our youth. Interestingly, the cost of the construction was the donation of the crowd, including a brick charity project that was also accompanied by family members, relatives, and friends who visited our house at that time.

The mosque has a main central blue dome and an Ottoman minaret. It’s inspired by Ottoman mosques and is located in a dense residential neighbourhood in Dandenong, a Western suburb of Melbourne.
