Ecuador is a majority Christian country, Muslims are a very small minority. According to Ecuador’s constitution, Muslims are free to profess their faith and build temples of worship in the country.
The Mosque is located in the city of Guayaquil, Ecuador. The Guayaquil Mosque, also known as The Islamic Centre of Guayaquil, was founded in 2004 by Juan Saud, Ali Said and Mazhar Farooq. Since 2020, it has operated in a three-storey residential building that has been adapted for its new function. As it was not purpose-built as a mosque, it does not have traditional elements such as a minaret and dome.
