The mosque is located on a hilltop with a breathtaking view of the Pacific Ocean. Situated on a base of rock, its tower rises into the sky, more than twice as high as its base. Its verticality is accentuated both by its location on a high point in the city, and by its volumetric proportions that tend to emphasize its height. The building has a base and tower in earthy colors, and a crowning base with a green roof. The tower, on the other hand, is adorned with tiles at its highest part and a crowning in reddish tones. In contrast to its clear geometric volumetry, the interior is full of ornamentation characteristic of Moroccan buildings.
The project, financed by the municipality of Coquimbo and the Kingdom of Morocco, has 722 square meters and a 40-meter high minaret. It includes a cultural center that is open to the public and includes two prayer rooms (the mosque), a specialized library with texts in Spanish, Arabic and other languages (which is also a conference room) and a museum.
