As in many mosques, photos, posters and prayer rugs adorn the prayer temple in the Noor-Ul-Haram mosque. They often depict the holy places of Medina and Mecca with its shrine the Ka’ba. Decorative plates are also popular decorations in the mosques: they often quote verses from the Koran, usually beautifully calligraphed, or refer to Allah and his prophets. Mosques are houses of the book. In the Noor Ul-Haram mosque there is therefore a library with Quran books and other Islamic books.
This Pakistani mosque can be recognized by the large glass façade from which the mosque owes its name: ‘The light of heaven shines through it’. The façade is made of etched glass with Islamic motifs and Quran verses applied.
