_Al-Atiq Mosque

Information

Located in Al-Jabalaw in Qena, Egypt, Al-Atiq Mosque consists of three main blocks: the prayer area and annexes, the hall (open courtyard) and its portico, and the service facilities. The mosque occupies the main block in the northwest part, the hall and its portico occupy the southeast part, whereas the service facilities are in the east part of the composition,
The layout of the mosque consists of a square area of 17m long. The architect divided it into five aisles using four arcades, whose semi-circular arches were of baked brick parallel to the wall of the qibla. This courtyard is in front of the south-eastern side of the mosque behind the qibla wall, taking the same width.
