Deggendorf Central Mosque (Deggendorf Selimiye Mosque)

Information

Deggendorf Mosque was opened in 2016 as a replacement for the prayer house and cultural centre of the Turkish-Islamic Cultural Association (DITIB) that was destroyed in the 2013 flood disaster. It is known as “Deggendorf Selimiye Mosque”.

The mosque is designed according to the modern architecture principles such as the straight lines, black structure, the golden dome, the minaret, aside to a modern cladding that cover the exterior. At 17.70 meters, the minaret is 1.70 meters higher than approved. The diameter is only 1.10 meters instead of the 1.40. So the minaret have changed from a pointed shape to solid plane top.
