_Tauba Mosque

Information

On the left-bank of the River Melekeska where it flows into the River Kama is the Tauba Mosque. It was built between 1989 and 1992 and has a modern and angular look with a minaret rising from its northern side. Its facades are covered with grey limestone tiles and it has green roofing. Tauba, or At-Tawba, translates as Repentance and is the name of the 9th chapter, or sura, of the Koran.

The building of the mosque belongs to the type of hall mosques, made in a modernist style and built of silicate brick. The facades of the mosque are lined with light limestone tiles and the basement with polished black granite. Excerpts from the Koran are inscribed on the facade of the southern half of the mosque. The upper part of the interior of the mosque is decorated with medallions, white marble, covered with carved floral ornaments. The mihrab is decorated in black marble and decorated with carved sayings from the Koran.

The mosque has two separate entrances: western for men and eastern for women. The hall of the mosque has a traditional hipped roof and is designed for 130 visitors. The 53 m minaret is located on the northern end of the building and is an octagonal trunk with a four-flight staircase.
Instead of a roof, it has a paved terrace from which you can enter the prayer hall through the vestibule at the base of the minaret. The entrances to the mosque are located on the western (male) and eastern (female) facades of the one-story building. The total area of the building is 1.3 thousand m².

The lobby has male and female halves, which are separated by a partition. Ablution rooms and bathrooms are located in the northern part of the lobby, stairwells and a wardrobe in the southern part. The male prayer hall is covered by a gable roof, inclined to the mihrab. Between the slopes on the northern facade there is a vertical light opening with colored stained-glass windows made of cast glass. In the northern half of the hall there is a balcony for women, from which there is an entrance to the minaret . In 2010, taharat (bathing places and bathrooms) were opened in the courtyard, in the place of the former garage. Also began the construction of a room for washing the dead in the back of the yard.
