This paper diagnoses the growth possibilities of Islam in Latin America, considering present opportunities and difficulties for growth and expansion. In this sense, growth opportunities are seen in the search for new identities, in Latin American social difficulties, in the paralle- lism between Islam and Marxism, and in financial support from Islamic nations. Growth difficulties are seen in the cultural strictness of Islam, in the secularization of Latin American society and in the proximity of La- tin America to the U.S.A. and the West. Finally, it shows the current si- tuation of Islam in Latin America with statistics, and it concludes that Is-lam is growing in the region, but at a slow but progressive pace.
