La razón de esta investigación reside, primeramente, en un hecho que vivió el autor al llegar a Chile. Citamos: «Sabía que en este país sudamericano casi no había turcos. Como era inmigrante, necesitaba comunicarme con la gente y así aprender más de la lengua y la cultura chilenas. Cuando aprendí lo básico del idioma, quise saber si había otros turcos en la ciudad. Contrariamente a lo que yo había imaginado, me dijeron, no una sino varias veces, que había muchos turcos en Chile. Esto me alegró sobremanera.
