The Kediri Grand Mosque is located on Jalan Panglima Sudirman, No. 160, Kediri City, East Java and was first established in 1771. This mosque is the largest and grandest mosque in Kediri City. The mosque has been renovated repeatedly except for the pulpit of the mosque which was only renovated once to maintain its authenticity.
In the recent renovation, the mosque was inaugurated in 2006. The mosque consists of three floors with many pillars in the mosque foyer, and a minaret as high as 49 meters. The mosque also features a joglo roof that is typical with Javanese custom, and a bluish green enamelled dome. Although the European architectural style dominates this mosque, you can feel the ethnic nuances from the wooden calligraphy carvings inside the mosque.
Before entering, the beauty and grandeur of the Kediri Grand Mosque is visible by its minaret and fountain right in front of the tower. Then when the feet stamped into the core room, laid a grey marble tile with beautiful mosaic ornaments. Judging from the design style, most likely marble tiles are imported from Europe. Javanese ethnic nuance is raised through the calligraphy decoration of wood material.
The building is supported by 106 pillars with 15 large doors and 12 small doors. There are three floors of floors, where the ground floor has an area of 1,388.8 m2. Then the first floor is 1.335.1 m2 and the second floor is 396.8 m2. As the largest holy place in this city, Kediri Grand Mosque can be chosen as the number one religious tourist attraction for the traveller who wants to find peace of mind.
