_Regenerative Approaches to Mosque Design: Competition for State Mosque, Baghdad

Description

It is now accepted that the hallmark of recent construction activity in Baghdad has been the comprehensive approach to development. The majority of buildings proposed in the city are of an integrated nature, involving housing, offices, shopping, cultural and educational facilities, the conservation of traditional neighbourhoods, as well as individual structures. However, there are also two other factors in the process of physical planning which are of paramount importance. One is the policy adopted for upgrading the quality of development, both in terms of design and construction involving new materials and the latest building technology. The other is concerned with
architectural style.
