The mosque has a unique architectural design while fully adhering to Islamic traditions. The first floor houses the men’s prayer hall and the mosque’s vestibule, while the second floor features a gallery that serves as the women’s prayer hall.
Designed by renowned architect Ilyas Tazhiev, who also built a mosque on Poklonnaya Hill in Moscow, the structure resembles a five-petaled flower. Three petals form domes, while the remaining two extend into minarets on either side. The domes are covered in copper, which will develop a green patina over time. The mosque’s exterior is adorned with emerald and white marble, enhancing its striking beauty.
This architectural concept was chosen as a tribute to the architect’s mother, after whom the mosque is named. Beyond its impressive design and size, the mosque serves as a cultural and historical landmark. At its entrance, a monument honours Muslims executed by Soviet authorities for their faith, serving as a reminder of past struggles.
Adjacent to the mosque is a complex that includes a modern club, a clinic, and a museum detailing the area’s history and natural surroundings. This integration of religious, historical, and social elements makes the mosque not only a place of worship but also a centre for community and remembrance.
