Evaluation of the Planning Standards of the Mosques regarding the Planning of Land Distribution, Riyadh City a Case Study The first chapter contains the preface and introduction, which defined the approach of the study. The second chapter deals with the planning standards related to the field of the study and research literature whereas the chapter three tackles with the planning standards approved for mosques in the city of Riyadh. They are those standards approved by the Ministry of Rural and Urban Affairs, the Secretariat of the Riyadh City. The study reveals that the standards of the ministry standards differ from those of the secretariat in terms of form and content. The fourth chapter is an effort to make the standards of the ministry and the standards of the secretariat closer through analysis of each of them and finding out six standards (site, distance, percentage of Salah performers, size, portion of individuals, area) to be taken into consideration for making comparison as mentioned in the fifth chapter. The sixth chapter studies twelve approved plans and specified to what extent the ministry has implemented its standards on the first six approved plans as well as to what extent the secretariat of Riyadh City has implemented its standards on the other six approved plans. It was found that the secretariat is more specific in implementation of its standards in the city of Riyadh than the ministry. The seventh chapter specifies the site and the service area of the local and main mosque with support of Islamic law and in view of the area that is covered by the voice of the loud speaker. It also specifies the percentage of the prayers as per the data of Statistics Dept. and population ratio of male individuals above the age of fifteen. The study concludes mentioning appropriate standards for mosques and suggests some recommendations.
