Masjid in The Park


History


New Mosque in Sherwood Park, Alberta. The Masjid in the Park is a community mosque with a board composed of Sunni Muslims. The main concept of the mosque is to learn, connect and explore through worship, remembrance and dialogue. The mosque vision is to provide a simple and peaceful space that allows worshipers to take a step away from their busy lives and spend some time in prayer, contemplation and reflection.

Urban and Architectural


The mosque was opened in May 2018 and still working on landscaping, exterior work, and the minaret.

Features:

  • Wheelchair accessible
  • Uniquely designed prayer halls, with a beautiful, well-lit, hall for sisters
  • Mother’s room available to nurse or pray with young ones who need to move around
  • Community room to meet and get to know one another
  • Separate lobbies for brothers and sisters to exchange salams and prepare for the formal canonical prayer (salat/namaz).
  • Maximum capacity: 250 people (zoned as a minor religious assembly)
