Tupalla Mosque
History
Tupalla mosque is located in a Serbian village surrounded by nature in a valley.
Urban and Architectural
The concept is
combining between nature, meditation and the philosophical essence of Islam
such as purity and sincerity using pure geometrical forms colored in white for
both interior and exterior, with some bright colors for the window facade to
reflect the soft light that enhances the feeling of the mosque idea without
having a visible opening towards nature.
The front wall of the prayer
hall is oriented towards Mecca, it is the mehrab area, as the niches in
interior guides prayers to qibla direction.
Longitudinal walls of the main
prayer hall are curved on the top to let the sunlight enters the hall from
hidden windows that are located above corridors.
The main design
approach is to create comfortable, functional and spiritual space for the small
Albanian Islamic community with a low cost by using local materials, creating a
less than 100 sqm space that supports all the required facilities and shaped to
create the universal space for meditation.
